Is Jesus God?
—Twelve verses that say Yes

This lesson simply presents 12 verses of scripture that clearly show the divinity or deity of Jesus, in other words that Jesus is God.

Jesus Christ Divine

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6 ESV).


Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel' (which means, God with us). (Matthew 1:23 ESV).


In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1 ESV).


This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. (John 5:18 ESV).


Thomas answered him, 'My Lord and my God!' (John 20:28 ESV).


To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ who is God1 over all, blessed forever. Amen. (Romans 9:5 ESV).


Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name (Philippians 2:9 ESV).


For in him [Christ] the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily (Colossians 2:9 ESV).


God2 was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (1Timothy 3:16 KJV).


But of the Son he says, 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.' (Hebrews 1:8 ESV).


Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God1 and Savior Jesus Christ (2Peter 1:1 ESV)


And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. (1John 5:20 ESV)
