❖  CHRIST —χριστος (Christos) is Greek for Christ or Messiah

❖ MESSIAH —The two titles, Messiah and Christ, are synonymous and interchangeable. “Messiah” is the Hebrew for which “Christ” is the Greek equivalent. The basic meaning of these titles is The Anointed One. See Strong: Hebrew 4899 (cf 4886), Greek 5547 (cf 5548).

Christ  —On simplybible.com certain technical or special words in the Bible are studied and explained in our glossary. Each lesson provides a word family, definitions, Greek and Hebrew references, a scripture chain, comments, and links to related lessons.

Jesus SERIES  —List of sermons or class lessons. Each lesson has Jesus Christ as its focal point.

Christ is All (Colossians) SERIES  —This series approaches Colossians from the principle of fullness or “allness” which Paul applies to most of his statements in the letter. Paul is trying to rescue from the false teachers this great principle: “Christ is all and in all” (Colossians 3:11). This principle is sometimes called the all-sufficiency of Christ.

Messianic Prophecies  —The Old Testament is valuable to Christians because its Messianic prophecies underpin the New Testament writings.

Psalms About Christ —Our overview of the Book of Psalms, would not be complete without mention of the “Messianic Psalms”. Here is a table of psalms about Christ quoted in the New Testament.

Who Was Born in Bethlehem?  —Who was the baby named Jesus born to Mary in Bethlehem? We find three answers: He was the Son of God, Christ the Lord, Jesus our Saviour.

The Birth of Jesus  —Some professing Christians reject the Bible story as factual. They do not believe in anything supernatural.

What Does Christ Do For Us?  —Jesus Christ does many wonderful things for us. Here are six of them to think about. To help you remember them, they make an acrostic on the word CHRIST.

What Does Christ Do For Us? (2)  —This is the second acrostic on the word CHRIST, and six more of the many wonderful things Christ does for us.

Christ Our High Priest  —We consider “the apostle and high priest of our confession, Christ Jesus” (Hebrews 3:1). This study is mainly in the book of Hebrews.

Highest Mightiest Greatest  —In Romans 1:4, Paul represents Jesus Christ our Lord as a man above all. He has been granted the highest mark, the mightiest power, and the greatest miracle (his resurrection).

Christ, King Now Reigning  —We look at the evidence in Paul’s letter to the Colossians that the kingdom of God now exists and there will not be a future kingdom on earth for 1000 years. Includes “Substance or Shadows?”
