❖  CHURCH —εκκλησια (ekklesia 1577) is Greek for church or “called out people”.

Church Defined  —On simplybible.com certain technical or special words in the Bible are studied and explained in our glossary. Each lesson provides a word family, definitions, Greek and Hebrew references, a scripture chain, comments, and links to related lessons.

Bible Maxims (List 4)  —Here's another list of Bible maxims. A selection from among the many maxims in the Bible. These maxims are about the church of Christ.

Search for the True Church SERIES  —Denominationalism is in conflict with Christ’s true church, the one he built. All congregations professing Christ should rediscover that church and restore themselves to it forsaking all else.

I Will Build My Church  —To introduce the series Search for the True Church we look at Jesus’s statement, “I will build my church”.

What is the Church?  —We explain what the church is, and also explain what the word church means.

In Danger of Digression  —Churches of Christ used to take a hard line against error. They took pains not to condone any belief or practice that was unscriptural. They called out digression and stood for New Testament Christianity.

The Church Jesus Bought  —What is the most precious material and physical thing that has ever been in this world?

The Foundation of the Church (Outline)  —Our main text for this study is a statement that Jesus made to the apostle Peter. Jesus said, 'You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church' (Matthew 16:18). We will look at Peter’s place in the foundation of the church.

The Church Over 2000 Years  —This old chart has been in my notebook for many years. I thought I’d neaten it up and share it with you.

Beginning at Jerusalem  —When, where, how, and why did Christianity begin, and who were the first Christians?

What the Church is Not  —You can get a better understanding of what something is, by being aware of what it is not. To better understand what the church is, let’s consider what it is not.

New Carts  —When David rescued the ark of the covenant, he transported it in a new cart instead of the hands of the priests. Uzzah lost his life but David learned a lesson. So can the churches.

The Church of Christ  —The church of Christ has the way to join all Christians into one people. The church of Christ is not just another group that divides Christians. No, not at all. Every one of you can be one people in Christ because you are joined only to Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26-28).

One World Wide Church  —The church that Jesus established was one world wide church. Jesus said, 'Go into ALL THE WORLD and preach the gospel to ALL CREATION' (Mark 16:16). This was accomplished by the first generation of Christians (Colossians 1:5-6,23). Why not also our generation?

Pillar and Ground (1Timothy 3:15)  —In the Bible, the church is not a place to be entertained. The church is “the pillar and ground of the truth.” We should look to God’s church to hear and receive God’s truth, not psychological hype or human idealism.

The Work of the Church  —Three activities make up the work of the church, and it does these both corporately and distributively.

The Mission of the Church  —Understanding the Mission of the church is nearly as important as understanding the Messiah himself. Has his great commission been fulfilled in the 21st Century as it was in the 1st Century?

Christ and His Church  —The New Testament writers Peter and Paul, draw on the words of Isaiah the prophet when they are teaching about the relationship of Christ to the church. The apostles draw our attention to three images in Isaiah’s poetry.

Acts 2:14-36  —A verse by verse study of Acts 2:14-26. These verses record Peter’s sermon on the day of Perntecost following our Lord’s ascension.

Relating to Each Other  —(1Thessalonians 5:12-15) Paul provides teaching on the way in which members of the local congregation should relate to each other.

Is That “Dead” Church Really Dead?  —Someone will visit a small struggling church, notice the empty seats and the lacklustre worship, and pronounce that church dead. But it may not be dead!

The Church  —unite, assemble, evangelize. God gathers his children into a visible church, the pillar of truth.

Jos blong Kraes, i Olsem Wannem?  —Jos blong Kraes, i gat rod blong joenem olgeta Kristin man we oli kam wan. Jos blong Kraes, hem i no jes wan narafala grup, we i divaedem ol Kristin man moa, nogat.

Presen blong ol Lanwis  —Long Baebol, I gat merikel ya, se toktok long ol lanwis. Merikel ya, oli kolem hem long Inglis, 'the gift of tongues'  ?Merikel ya, i olsem wanem?
