Truth and Error - Truth’s Source, Scope, and Substance  —The Bible often mentions truth as opposed to error. Truth and falsehood are among the most basic of all Bible opposites. Read this lesson on truth.

The Lie that Brought Death  —Ananias and Sapphira told a lie. The account in Acts 5, is one of the most unsettling stories in the Bible.

Believing a Lie  —False teaching is all around us, but we have no excuse for believing these lies.

The Falling Away and False Teachers (1Timothy 4:1-6)  —When a church is established, there is a passion for the truth. In later times, however, there comes a falling away.

Fads and Fables 1Timothy 4:7-11  —Fortunately in this confused world, flooded with all kinds of false religious teaching and superstition, there is an anchor, namely the gospel, to which we can fix our hope.

False Prophets  —This page is a study of Second Peter chapter two —comparable with Jude's letter. It’s about false prophets who lead people into heresy and apostasy.

Christ, Opponent of All False Religion  —(Colossians) By claiming to be the repository of all wisdom and knowledge, Jesus Christ opposes himself to all other religions. Jesus instructs his followers neither to persecute other religions, nor to embrace them. Includes “The Three Unthinkables”

❖  ABSOLUTE TRUTH —The principle of relativity has been extended by some thinkers to the unjustified conclusion that all truth changes relative to circumstances. It would be paradoxical to say, “all truth is relative and no truth is absolute”. That is stating as absolute truth that there can be no absolute truth. The paradox is removed if we say, “Some truth is relative and some truth is absolute”.

Hard To Hear God SERIES  —These pages present things the Bible teaches that are hard sayings, and people do find them hard to hear. The truth is not always soft and easy. Sometimes it is hard and difficult. But it still needs to be believed and taught.

Amen Defined  —On simplybible.com certain technical or special words in the Bible are studied and explained in our glossary. Each lesson provides a word family, definitions, Greek and Hebrew references, a scripture chain, comments, and links to related lessons.

Bible Maxims (List 1)  —Here's a list of Bible maxims. Just a neat simple selection for your edification. A maxim is a brief pithy expression of some general principle or rule of conduct.

Verses About the Word of God  —A List of Bible verses about God's Word. Just a neat simple list for reference.

True Grace SERIES  —This series of lessons is about the Bible’s teaching on God’s grace. We address doctrines about grace that re-emerged in the second decade of the twenty-first century. These teachings have been dubbed False Grace. They say that God’s grace allows us to continue in sin.

Search for the True Church SERIES  —Denominationalism is in conflict with Christ’s true church, the one he built. All congregations professing Christ should rediscover that church and restore themselves to it forsaking all else.

Truth in Love SERIES  —A collection of old articles written for the Australian national magazine Truth in Love of which I was a staff member circa 1960.

In Danger of Digression  —Churches of Christ used to take a hard line against error. They took pains not to condone any belief or practice that was unscriptural. They called out digression and stood for New Testament Christianity.

The Self-Deceiving Heart  —We have seen that Jesus, if you are one of his followers, gives you a true self image, and imparts to you a self worth and destiny beyond your wildest expectations. Unfortunately most of us don't reckon our own personal potential in those terms. Thus we lead fruitless lives empty of true purpose.

Enlightenment  —Discusses the Source and revelation of all light, and the children of light.

This Mad World  —The world is not in its right mind. Listen to the voices of this world, and test them. You will hear beliefs that are not only false but also most dangerous

Ten Deep Things John 1:1-17  —The first 17 verses of John’s account of Jesus, point to ten deep things. They are listed with a brief comment on each. Presented in two parts. This is PART 1.

Ten Deep Things John 1:1-17  —The first 17 verses of John’s account of Jesus, point to ten deep things. They are listed with a brief comment on each. Presented in two parts. This is PART 2

The Last Word (Amen)  —There’s a word at the end of every prayer, the word Amen. Where did this word come from, why do we say it, and what does it mean?

Is Paul's Doctrine True?  —Three witness called to testify regarding the veracity of Paul’s doctrine.

The Well-beloved Gaius  —The 3rd epistle of John says four wonderful things about Gaius: he was well beloved; his soul prospered; he walked in truth; he acted faithfully.

Antichrist Enemy of Truth: What 1st John Says About Truth  —John does not want people to be led astray by lies spread by antichrist. John has born witness to the truth and his witness is true because it comes from Jesus Christ.

Christ's Retribution  —When Jesus returns it will be a marvellous day for his saints. All who believed will enter the glory of God's eternal kingdom. But God's righteous judgment does not end there. Those who did not obey the gospel and those who afflicted his saints, will be repaid with affliction (2Thessalonians 1:5-10).

One Truth, One Mediator, One Ransom  —People will say that there are many great lights in the world. They are the teachers who have given the world great insights. That may be so, but when people count Jesus as one among the many, that is not true. He is the only Mediator between God and man (1Timothy 2:4-6).

Pillar and Ground (1Timothy 3:15)  —In the Bible, the church is not a place to be entertained. The church is “the pillar and ground of the truth.” We should look to God’s church to hear and receive God’s truth, not psychological hype or human idealism.

How Timothy Knew the Truth  —Examining how or by what means Timothy knew the truth.

Untruths About God’s Truth  —Looks at some of the untrue statements people make about the Bible.

Interpreting the Bible  —This lesson is a digest of four articles I wrote some years ago for a church bulletin. Each relates to the theme of scriptural authority and interpretation of the Bible.

Who Has the Truth?  —About the source and repository of truth, and about departures from it.

Relative and Absolute Truth  —A short but informative discussion of relative and absolute truth from a Biblical perspective.

Why I Believe the Bible  —This lesson explains my faith in the Bible based on the three tests of truth that I apply to the Bible.

The Authority of Jesus  —Authority makes doctrine true. No doctrine is the truth unless it has the right authority, and no authority is valid unless it is based squarely on truth. Jesus Christ passes this test.

The Humility of Jesus  —Did Jesus have the same authority while on earth in the flesh as he had beforehand as the eternal Word, and has now as Jesus Christ exalted to God’s right hand?

What is Truth?  —Pilate asked the question, “What is truth?” It's an easy question to ask, especially in the spirit in which Pilate asked it. But what is the answer?

Did God Really Say?  —The first question recorded in the Bible was asked by the serpent in the Garden of Eden. “Did God really say that you must not eat from a tree in the garden?” (Genesis 3:1). We learn a lot from observing how the serpent, Adam, and Eve, each handled the word of God.

The Way Back (1)  —In the Bible, we read of 'the Way,' but in common speech it may be called 'the Way back' for the Bible Way is the Way back to God. Yet people in this world will not admit their sinfulness; they are self-righteous, thinking they are good enough to get into heaven.

The Way Back (2)  —To be saved, sinners must go further on the Way of Salvation than Faith. Peter said: 'Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38).

The Anchor of Truth  —The first of five lessons on the theme “Anchors in the Storm”. In this lesson, we consider truth as an anchor when we are buffeted by storms of pagan ideas.

You Shall Know the Truth (John 8:32)  —Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Although some say we should not analyse the Bible minutely word by word, that's exactly what we are going to do with this statement of Jesus.

The Worst Accusation  —When you tell the truth to people and show them what the scriptures say, there will be some who say you are unloving and legalistic. They don't realise, however, what a very serious accusation that is.

Fake News, Old News, Good News  —The Bible is God's revelation to humanity. It is news from God to enlighten us. The Bible exposes fake news namely the devil's lies. The Bible informs us of God's old news namely the law of Moses. The Bible brings us the good news, namely the gospel or new covenant of Christ.

Jesus, the Way Truth and Life  —Jesus said to Thomas, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me'. There is only one way to heaven. That Way is Jesus and his word of truth. No other can grant us eternal life. So it's well worth thinking about the way, the truth, and the life. That's what we do in this lesson (John 14:6).

Toktok blong tru God nomo  —Yumi mas folem evri samting wanem Jisas i tijim long Nuitestamen blong Baebol. Yumi mas agensem ol samting we i no stret long toktok long buk ya, from buk ya i bin kamaot long Tru God long heven.

Jisas hem nao i Rod, mo Trutok, mo Laef - Jon14:6  —Naos Jisas i talem long Tomas se, “Mi nao rod ya, mo mi mi stamba blong trutok, mo mi stamba blong laef. I no gat man i save kam long Papa blong mi, sipos mi mi no tekem hem i kam” (Jon 14:6).
