Ronald Weinland Dud Date for Second Coming
—Prophesied judgment day May 27, 2012
Like Harold Camping who said that Christ would come in May 2011, Ronald Weinland purports to be a prophet who knows that Christ will come in May 2012. To be precise, May 27, 2012. OK, let's talk about waiting for Jesus.
Ronald Weinland says:
“May 27, 2012, is the time that I have stated as being the date Jesus Christ will return as King of kings over all government on this earth. For such an event to come to pass, the Trumpets of Revelation must all sound, the United States and dollar collapse, the ten nations of Europe arise to fulfill the final revival of the Holy Roman Empire, and with China must unite against Europe in WW III.”

1 Waiting for the Second Coming
Christians are waiters. Not the kind who serve tables in a restaurant, but the kind who are looking for the return of Jesus Christ. ¶ "Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ." (Philippians 3:20). "Having the first fruits of the Spirit, we groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption... with perseverance we wait eagerly for it" (Romans 8:23-25).
Peter writes an inspiring passage about waiting for Jesus and the new heavens and new earth. He says, ¶ "be in holy conduct and godliness... be on your guard... grow in grace and knowledge" (2Peter 3:10-18).
Having taken notice of those guidelines on how we should wait for Jesus, let's now think about the time of his coming.
2 How True Waiters Think
Two kinds of waiting. Imagine a railway station in a country town. On the platform, a small group of people wait for the train. Imagine also that across the way there is a river. On the river bank, a small group of people have lines in the water, waiting for the fish to bite. What's the difference in the waiting? Yes, you guessed it. The train station waiters know when the train is coming. They can tell you how many minutes before the train will arrive. The river bank waiters don't know when the fish will bite. It might happen this minute, or it might not be for twenty minutes.
Nobody knows the time Waiting for Jesus is like the river bank waiters. We don't know when Jesus will come. But some people (like Ronald Weinland his followers) think they are like the train station waiters: they know when Jesus will come.
Jesus said, ¶ "Heaven and earth shall pass away... but nobody knows the day or hour... you do not know when the appointed time is... you do not know when the master of the house is coming." (Mark 13:31-33).
People like Ronald Weinland say they do know, and Weinland has predicted the very day, May 27, 2012. Jesus says that Weinland doesn't know. Who has time proven right?
True waiters for the Lord keep watchful. They understand that they don't know the time of Jesus’s return, but they are diligent to be ready for him whenever he comes.
3 What Is It We Are Waiting For?
Yes, we are waiting for the second coming. But there are three main ideas about the time and nature of Christ’s second coming. Which of these second comings are we waiting for?
- Some say it came at the destruction of Jerusalem AD70.
- Others say that it's coming very soon and Jesus will reign on earth for 1000 years. (This is Weinland’s doctrine)
- The Bible says that we don't know the time, but when Jesus comes the earth will be destroyed and the saved will go to heaven.
John 14:1-4, 1Corinthians 15:50-54
Jesus said that he was going to heaven to prepare us a dwelling place there. He is coming back to take us to that home in heaven. Jesus says nothing about dwelling on earth after his second coming (John 14:1-4).
Paul says, in a passage about the resurrection, "Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God... The trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed... this mortal must put on immortality" (1Corinthians 15:50-54). This shows that, after the resurrection at the second coming there will no longer be any mortals.
So that's what we are waiting for. Watch and pray. Live your life with our Lord’s promise in mind and wait for it patiently. You're on the river bank now. Keep your line baited and cast it into the water. You won't be disappointed as, unfortunately, those will be who follow Ronald Weinland.
